Not long after he was on the back of Bjarmi. Bjarmi is a young stallion and I was a little afraid he would be too strong for the kid. But apparently not. The kid, named William, was a champ, listening to my instructions and doing whatever I said without complaining.
And as the riding went on I realized he was quite a rider. He was really good at it, and didn't really need my help. I adviced them to geld him anyway though, as handling a stallion anywhere could be hard. But then Bjarmi began acting up.
"Please hold the reins not too short, or he will get angry. He is used to not being ridden much by the use of reins, but more with legs and weight," I explained to him, and then he rode on again. "He is still young, you must remember, and can get quite frisky," I said.
"I can handle him," he answered confidently, and moved the horse into a trot.
The mom came to talk to me.
"And you are sure he can handle the horse?" she asked nervously.
"Yeah, he is handling him quite well already. Better than my ex anyway," I laughed and shrugged.
"Hmm..." was her only answer and that was that. I still wasn't sure they wanted him though...
